Welcome to Fall 2018
We hope your first week of class went well! The SSD Insider is your monthly way to receive updates, reminders and announcements from SSD. We encourage you to read through all the headlines and click on the links for more information if you are interested in that topic.
Accommodation Letters
Don’t forget to request your Accommodation Letters. It often takes us a full 5 business days to process letter requests. You cannot use your accommodations until you have delivered and discussed your Accommodation Letter with your instructor so plan to do this within the first few weeks of class. Don’t forget to use the Web Portal to request a Note-Taker or reserve testing space at SSD after talking with your instructors.
Course Load Reduction/Full Time Status
If you plan to take less than full time amount of hours and need full time status email your coordinator with the following information: 1) how many hours you plan to take, 2) who needs to be notified about full time status (Office of Financial Aid, Campus Employment, Campus Housing, etc.). Your coordinator then will draft and send letters to the appropriate offices to verify your full time status.

SSD Office Hours
SSD Coordinators will be offering “office hours” as a way to connect more easily with students about accommodation-related questions or concerns. Students can call, email or come by in person to meet with their Coordinator during their scheduled office hours. Please contact your Coordinator to find out when they will be offering office hours each week. You can find the names and contact information for SSD staff on our website.
Employment Events
SSD is excited to be hosting events with the CIA, IBM, EY, Accenture and the Lime Network. These events will be great opportunities to network and prepare for future internships and employment with employers who are eager to hire people with disabilities. Check the SSD Website for specific details and to RSVP.
