There are multiple offices and departments on campus that provide information and support to students. Below are some resources that may be of particular use for students with disabilities.

Longhorn TIES Neurodiversity Support
Launched in 2019, the Longhorn TIES (Transition, Inclusion, Empower, Success) program within New Student Services coordinates and facilitates neurodiversity initiatives at The University of Texas at Austin. Longhorn TIES seeks to enhance the student experience for students who identify as neurodivergent through advocacy, connections and training, starting with the New Student Orientation process and continuing throughout the student’s tenure at the university. Individuals may identify with one of several neurodivergent diagnoses, including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder, Tourette’s Syndrome, and more.
Longhorn TIES encompasses: comprehensive and drop-in student supports, faculty and staff support, the Neurodiversity Leadership Council, presentations and training, and more.
Center for Strategic Advising & Career Counseling
Center for Strategic Advising & Career Counseling serves students across campus who are exploring majors and careers, as well as undeclared students enrolled in the School of Undergraduate Studies.

UWC provides individual and professional advice on all aspects of writing to UT undergraduates on a drop-in basis or by appointment. They also offer an online service, VIRGIL, which may be helpful for those students writing papers at 2 a.m. See http://uwc.utexas.edu/.
Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC)
The Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) is committed to serving UT’s diverse student community. CMHC provides counseling, psychiatric, consultation and prevention services that facilitate students’ academic and life goals by enhancing their personal well-being.
Professional staff includes licensed clinicians from a variety of mental health disciplines including licensed professional counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.
Services Provided Include:
- Single Session and Short-Term Counseling
- Crisis Intervention Including a 24-Hour Crisis Line (512-471-2255)
- Psychiatric Services
- Therapeutic and Non-Therapeutic Groups
- My Student Support Program (My SSP) – 24/7 confidential virtual counseling (single session or short term and immediate or scheduled) available through phone and chat.
- Voices Against Violence – An advocacy service with individual and group counseling for survivors of relationship violence, sexual violence and stalking.
- Counselors in Academic Residence (CARE) – Licensed mental health professionals working within colleges/schools to provide accessible services and mental health support.
- Mindful Eating Team – A team of staff dedicated to assisting students dealing with food, weight and body image concerns.
- The Alcohol and Other Drugs Counseling Program – A substance abuse program for students with questions about their own or someone else’s substance use.
- Outreach Specialists – Mental health specialists who provide counseling, support, and outreach for student populations with marginalized and underrepresented identities.
- Case Management – Professional assistance connecting with off-campus mental health resources appropriate to a student’s unique needs and circumstances.
- Well-Being Resources – Including Mental Health Conversations, the Thrive at UT app, workshops and classes, and the MindBody Labs.
Charges and Insurance:
There are no charges for crisis services, clinical services, My SSP and well-being resources. There is a $10 charge for each psychiatric visit. CMHC does not bill insurance.

Voices Against Violence
Voices Against Violence (VAV) offers comprehensive violence prevention and response programs. VAV addresses issues of interpersonal violence, such as sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking. VAV aims to provide the campus with tools to identify and interrupt interpersonal violence, support survivors, and build a campus that values and promotes healthy relationships and consent. University Health Services
UHS provides medical care and patient education to currently enrolled UT Austin students. The high-quality medical facility is staffed by licensed professionals including physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and board-certified physicians practicing in the areas of family medicine, internal medicine, sports medicine and women’s health.

Charges and Insurance:
There are charges for all UHS services, but UHS keeps them as low as possible. Most insurance is accepted but is not required to use UHS. Discounts are given to uninsured or underinsured students on many medical services. Also, payment is not required at time of appointment, charges post to the student’s “What I Owe” page. The Center for Student in Recovery (CSR)
The Center for Students in Recovery provides a supportive community where students in recovery and in hope of recovery can achieve academic success while enjoying a genuine college experience free from alcohol and other drugs. The Longhorn Wellness Center (LWC)
The Longhorn Wellness Center addresses priority college health issues and offers programming to promote student well-being. Focus areas include alcohol and other drugs, bystander intervention, healthy sexuality, interpersonal violence prevention, mental health, mindfulness, physical health and nutrition, sleep, suicide prevention and well-being in learning environments. The Longhorn Wellness Center provides UT students with workshops, peer education and support, resources, and opportunities to get involved. Student Emergency Services
The Student Emergency Services works with campus and community organizations to provide a number of services to assist students and, in some cases, their families and friends during an emergency or crisis situation. These services may include provision of limited emergency funds, assistance with academic issues, outreach and advocacy for students, and coordination with other relevant UT offices.

The Office of the Student Ombuds only serves currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. We can also assist faculty, staff, alumni, and parents with questions about student-related concerns.
We provide information and assistance to students who have university-related questions or complaints. The office can also help university officials including faculty, staff, and administration by providing information and problem solving regarding student issues. Additionally, we report trends and suggestions to the appropriate officials.
