Closed Captioning/Post-Production Captioning Services
If a Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing individual lets you know they need captioned versions of videos, you should first check to ensure that a version of the video with captions/subtitles is not already available. This would be a more efficient and cost-effective means of providing accessible materials. Please note that “automatic captions” on online videos, such as YouTube, are not suitable for ADA accommodations and therefore are not an effective way of providing access to video content.
If you are unable to find a version of the video with captions/subtitles or there is only AI-generated captioning available, please contact University of Texas at Austin Captioning and Transcription Services. If services are needed for a University student, faculty, or staff member, the cost will be covered by the University. Captioning videos for other purposes will be at the cost of the college or department requesting services.
