Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART)
CART involves a captionist transcribing spoken material in-person or during a Zoom or Teams call into written language that is then displayed on a screen (laptop or tablet) for the individual. The captionist may be in the room or at a remote location. CART services are arranged by the Scheduling Coordinator in D&A.
Typewell
Typewell provides a transcript based on meaning rather than the word-for-word translation provided by CART. It is provided by a transcriber that is listening remotely and the captions are displayed on a screen (laptop or tablet) for the individual. Typewell services are arranged by the Scheduling Coordinator in D&A.
